Dave was born in North Carolina and grew up fishing in Appalachian streams and farm ponds. He believes every day is an opportunity to learn more about ourselves and the world around us. Since moving to Colorado he has found a preference for fishing remote, high mountain lakes and streams when he has the time to get to them. He enjoys fishing dry flies over nymphing, and his absolute favorite fishing is on streamers. No matter what the species or style, if it's fishing, he is interested.
After living overseas for most of his life, his family returned state-side shortly before he entered university. Now, after having spent over eight years in the Roaring Fork Valley, he has become intimately familiar with our rivers, the local community, and our unique mountain culture.

The never ending chase for trout has brought him permanently to Colorado.
Born and raised in San Antonio, TX, Al began fishing for fresh and saltwater species at an early age. With the help of his father, grandfather and uncles Al learned basic through advanced techniques for successful harvesting. This is ultimately where Al developed a passion for fishing while on the hunt for small/largemouth bass, redfish and speckled trout.
Al’s passion for fishing eventually lead him to the wilds of Colorado, where he has lived for nearly ten years. Upon arrival Al picked up a fly rod and immediately found a renewed sense of desire to learn and share his newfound knowledge. Once introduced to the headwaters above tree line, the larger tail waters along the Front Range and the many opportunities throughout the Western Slope, Al was “hooked”.
Currently Al’s new passions involve sharing his knowledge and excitement for fishing with others as a fly fishing guide. When Al is not on the water guiding, you can find him in the classroom instructing others on what it takes to become a professional fly fishing guide.
Although Al is well versed in many different types of fly-fishing approaches, his preferred methods are Western Style and European (Czech) nymph techniques, in addition to rises on the dry fly and stripping/swinging streamers.
Al is available for guided fly fishing trips year round.
